Bonding on the Boardwalk

While the housing options in Galloway have their own unique charms and vistas, some of the Atlantic City Residence Hall rooms have a coveted beachfront view. The residential complex in Atlantic City has several options for groups of all sizes - studios, two-bedroom suites, four-bedroom suites, and six-bedroom suites. From the outset, the building was designed with student gatherings in mind and features large lobbies, fireplaces, comfortable seating, and a game room. However, one unexpected place where students feel a sense of community on the AC campus is on the Boardwalk when the fire alarm goes off!
Because the Atlantic City dorms opened just as the Fall 2018 semester began, the Division of Facilities and Operations was still testing the building alarm systems, which proved to be a little delicate. Cooking, showering鈥he smoke detectors did not discriminate when it came to causes for the alarm to sound. Alarms necessitate a total building evacuation, and somehow these events always seemed to happen at the oddest moments.
Nothing builds community like common adversity, and for the first residents of the Atlantic City Residence Hall, the fire alarm became their mutual nemesis. Although these meetings were unplanned, they ran into the same faces at the evacuation destination. Even though students were disgruntled by their disturbed sleep or interrupted study hours, these unexpected experiences also built a sense of community, and there was something charming about the way that they stood there making small talk, not knowing how long the adventure would last.
