The Scott House – named after the family that built it – is located on Jimmie Leeds Road and was part of the College in the early 1970s.

College planners and librarians were the first people to work in the building, perhaps as early as the spring of 1970. By mid-summer, the academic staff moved into the building, including Stockton’s first four deans and the Vice President for Academic Affairs. They occupied the building until the College opened at the Mayflower Hotel in the fall of 1971, and moved back to Galloway into the upper B-Wing offices the following year.

The most pressing issue for these Deans was recruiting faculty. They started advertising positions in the fall of 1970 and received 5,300 applications for the initial 55 faculty positions. Many of these first interviews took place in the Scott House.

After the academic administration left, other entities used the site. NJN (New Jersey Network) erected a tower so that Stockton’s stories could be broadcast to the whole state. Most recently, the Bacharach Institute for Rehabilitation has used the building for administrative and financial functions for many years.
