In April 2011, the Richard Stockton College of New Jersey opened its new Campus Center. There were three goals for the center: to consolidate all student services offices in one location, to blend the past with the future, and to create a home for students.

The center鈥檚 architect drew inspiration from an alpine lodge, and incorporated soaring ceilings, wood finishes, and lots of natural light, all spiraling out from a central granite fireplace. The original Stockton tree is prominent in the architectural features. The innovative design received LEED Gold Certification for efficient energy and water use. Additional green features of the building include water-efficient landscaping with rain gardens of indigenous and adapted plant species, use of building materials with recycled content, and a sophisticated energy management system for heating, cooling, ventilation and lighting. A range of art completes the center, representing local themes.

In addition to student support offices such as Admissions, Financial Aid, the Bursar, Academic Advising, the Dean of Students, and the Registrar, the 150,000-square-foot building boasts a theater, bookstore, and mall-style food court. A separate coffee house has a stage for live performances and programs, and an adjacent lounge area for pool tables and ping pong.
